Amazon App Store - New Kid on the Block

IT’S OFFICIAL!

Today, Amazon has gone rogue and launched their own app store for Android apps. There has been a lot of speculation on exactly what Amazon’s plan was but the move has been in the works for a while now and we have been waiting since day one.

So, why are we so excited you ask? We have been working with Amazon, from the beginning, to bring the most widely used recovery app to the new app store. At launch time, the 12 Steps AA Companion app was there first!

Not only that but it immediately jumped into the top 100 paid apps and hit #1 in paid lifestyle apps! Wow! Thank you everybody for all your support!

With a new app store, Amazon will, now be, competing directly with Google’s Android Market while allowing users to purchase apps for Android devices using an Amazon account.

A great decision by Amazon is incorporating their own recommendation technology to enhance the user’s ability to locate apps similar to their own tastes. This recommendation tech has been used widely used in Amazon’s web store and operates very similar to Apple’s Genius which is featured in Apple’s iTunes and App Store.

Is there any advantage to using Amazon’s App Store versus Google’s Android Market? Actually, yes. Amazon has implemented an approval system for apps before they are made available for users to download. From our experience, this process is very beneficial to app customers. The approval process takes roughly about a week to approve an app but, when all is said and done, you are offered a cleaner selection of apps that are verified to work as described.

Google’s Android Market doesn’t have an approval process and has long been riddled with buggy apps, poor development and tons of excess junk apps that users hate digging though.

We are always happy to hear of solutions to current issues that users are facing and hope that this is something that can help people access apps they want more efficiently.
